shadit.com Domain Branding Win
I was initially worried about my choice of the domain name for this blog you are reading and for all of my professional correspondence. Then, after having only registered this domain a few hours earlier, I received a phone call from a representative of the Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest. She was very conciliatory, telling me my plan was not selected to move on to round 2. I responded that I had not, in fact, actually completed my plan submission due to being busy attending business school, etc. She offered to add me to their email list so that I could be informed about events pertaining to the Contest. As I read my brand-new email address to her, I received my validation:
ME: It’s s-h-a-d at s-h-a-d-i-t dot com.
HER: So, Shad at Shad IT dot com?
ME: YES! That’s exactly correct.
She immediately figured out the meaning of my new domain. Thank you, Liz, from the Wisconsin Innovation Network!

By the way, you should think seriously about your stackoverflow profile, how it links to here, etc. If you’re trying to brand yourself, that’s a market connection that literally measures in the millions right now.

Thanks for the suggestion about my stackoverflow profile. I have not been on there much lately, but intend to stop by from time to time.
